More about Relationships and Couples Therapy

Relationships are not stagnant. After years of being together, a couple may realize they have grown apart. Couples who are currently entering a first marriage have a 50% chance of failure. Therapy can assist couples in surmounting problems such as frequent arguments and conflicts, communication difficulties, and traumatic events including infidelity and betrayal of trust. Effective couples therapy can provide lasting benefits such as the ability to manage conflict effectively, trust, increased emotional and physical intimacy, increased respect and affection, repair of past hurts and renewed commitment.

Dr. Stan is trained by leading experts in the science of couples therapy, Drs. Julie and John Gottman of the Gottman Institute and Dr. Sue Johnson, founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy. Their therapeutic approaches are considered the most effective and are empirically validated forms of couples therapy.

In therapy, we will utilize evidence-based assessment. This will provide personalized in-depth feedback of strengths and growing opportunities for a couple and proven and effective intervention strategies. In therapy we provide an environment of safety and understanding for both partners. You will be treated with kindness and respect and without judgment.

Marathon Couples Therapy

Marathon couples therapy is a dynamic alternative to traditional weekly sessions. This highly condensed and focused approach will provide you with time you need to address concerns in your relationship and achieve the desired growth so your relationship can move to a place of strength, hope and deep emotional connection. Couples who experience this form of therapy describe it as life-changing and transformative.

Healthy relationships and marriage provide a safe haven and a place of comfort and security. The benefits of these relationships are invaluable, and they promote increased physical and mental health and even a stronger immune system. But most importantly, they provide a secure base where love and understanding can flourish.
